We had a short getaway at the end of April, and it was just gorgeous. Perfect spring weather, not everyone out for the May vacation time yet, nearly empty roads… ohhh… bliss. We visited Český Krumlov, Hluboká nad Vltavou and České Budějovice with a short forest walk in Šumava, national park in Czechia.
This is why the contrast of me, getting hit by total allergy outburst combined with something that caused fever, hit me so hard. But what could I do if not lay down and sweat it out. I’m still coughing but at least, I’m up and almost about too :)
I wish I didn’t have to cancel my own needle felting workshop because of this but that’s something that had to be done too. I was really wondering about the timing and all… but I got a new date, I am calling new people in so I guess all is good. Life happens when you actually live it.
I know I promised photos from the “Shibori In Wool” exhibition but this photo is all I have:
The “exhibition” is inside the Municipality of Škofja Loka’s window :)
But I can show you my final piece which is called “Edvard/Edward”:
It’s interesting that while I was making the samples for this piece, Edvard, or Edward, just flew in :) It has a story and it would be really nice to tell it in wool I think. Just like this piece, just different “woolystrations”.
Maybe one day I’ll actually make it. It would also be very wise to capture it in one of my sketchbooks before I’ll forget it. Just like so many other things my creative brain keeps throwing at me and I don’t manage to bring to life. At least I know I’m not the only one lol. Odd solace but it works. Sometimes :)
As for the Creative 2026 goes… we have just entered The Meadow week, and it’s raining and stormy outside and it looks like it will stay like this for a while. So sooo funny, since I was really hoping to go out and actually EXPERIENCE one of the lovely meadows around here.
I actually painted a quick-ish spread on the theme today. I’m thinking I’ll do another one tomorrow, in a different “technique”.
All in all, I feel a bit “lost” creatively. It could be the week “off” and all the reflecting I did or just this jump from wet felting into sketching again and having my dry felting uprooted like so. I really don’t know. All I do know, is that I like sharing my dry felting with people because it really is extremely soothing and meditative and totally something you do for yourself, for your soul really. I should probably follow these words myself and actually make something :) Ideas are already in the que.
Oh and if anyone is interested, I posted two new videos on my YT channel in which I sketch in this same sketchbook you see above. It’s just me creating, not many words really. I’m aiming to have such videos as an invitation to “create along” but I think I have to make it more obvious, tell something about this, shoot a video explaining it lol… otherwise, it’s just another video in which you don’t really learn anything specific and so you don’t know what’s it for.
If you’ll have a look, please tell me what you think, I am very open to suggestions here.
And I am going to leave you with this.
May your May flowers be pretty and showers stay away from you ;)
With much love,
Nina
